ABSTRACT
The purpose of this study was to propose a preliminary norm of phonological error patterns for the ‘Korean Test of Articulation for Children’. The study subjects comprised 220 children aged 2;6 (years; months) to 6;5. Error patterns were described as phonological processes and the identification of an error pattern was based on the process occurring three times. The phonological processes used by more than 10% of late 2-year-olds were as follows: (1) The whole-word processes, including reduplication or consonant harmony, word-final consonant deletion, and intersyllabic cluster simplification; and (2) The segment-change processes including, tensing or deaspiration, velar fronting, nasalization or stopping of liquid, liquid simplification, affrication or palatalization, stopping of fricative or affricate, and interdentalization of fricative. Early-disappearing phonological processes included reduplication or consonant harmony, word-final consonant deletion, tensing or deaspiration, velar fronting, and nasalization or stopping of liquid.
