ABSTRACT
The purpose of this study was to develop a Korean assessment model for language disordered preschoolers. Interviews were conducted with 9 speech therapists from 4 different clinical settings and the results were analyzed by using a qualitative, constant-comparative design. Three themes emerged from the qualitative analysis: communication-based language assessment, integrated and collaborative team approach, and consideration of children's environment. In addition, 10 subthemes emerged from the main three themes. Four subthemes from the first theme were the importance of informal tests, assessment for AAC eligibility, assessment for at-risk children, and dynamic assessment. Three subthemes from the second theme were sharing assessment information, systematic team approach, and on-going assessment. Three subthemes from the third theme were parent involvement, consideration of school environment, and consideration of family environment.
