ABSTRACT
The purpose of this research was to examine the characteristics of two-year-old children’s pretend play in relation to the gender and teachers’ intervention. The participants of this study were 30 children and 8 teachers. Children’s pretend play was observed in terms of theme, factors, types, and places. The results showed that the characteristics of the children’s pretend play were reflective of their development and gender. The strategies the teachers utilized during interventions also affected the children’s pretend play. The implications for further research and for the integration of special children and normally developing children were discussed.
