ABSTRACT |
The purpose of the present study was to analyze the con sonant perception and production in Korean by children with profound sen sorineural hearing loss, and to investigate the relation ships among the consonant perception, consonant production, and degree of the hearing loss. T wenty hearing - impaired children (HI), whose ages rangedfrom 7 to 13 year s, participated in the experiment . All of the subject s were given two test s : the consonant perception and production test. T he result s of the experiment s were as follows : (1) HI s perception scores of con sonant s were significantly different with respect to the articulation places and articulation manner s , but were not different with respect to the vowel context s and positions of the syllables, (2) HI s perception scores of articulation place features were significantly lower than those of articulation manner features, (3) HI s production scores of consonant s were significantly different with respect to the vowel context s , articulation places , and articulation manner s, but were not different with respect to the position s of the syllables . (4) HI s production scores of articulation place features were significantly higher than those of articulation manner features, (5) Pear son s Correlation Coefficient s showed that the correlation s were not significant between any pair s of PTA, HI s perception scores of con sonant s , and production scores of consonants. |
