ABSTRACT

Background & Objectives
The purpose of this pilot study was to examine the validity and the reliability of the Korean version of the Token Test for Children-Second Edition (TTFC-2).
Methods
The English version of TTFC-2 was translated into Korean, and the Korean version of TTFC-2 and the Korean Oral Syntax Expression Comprehension Test (KOSECT) were then applied to 161 normal children divided into four age groups (preschool, first, second and third grade). The scores of the two tests were used for a concurrent validity study. The differences among the four age groups were analyzed using One-Way ANOVA. In addition, the correlations between the total and the subtest scores of the TTFC-2 were analyzed to determine the degree of difficulty in the TTFC-2.
Results
The indices of both internal consistency and test-retest reliability of the TTFC-2 were found to be statistically significant. Significantly high correlations were obtained (1) between the TTFC-2 and KOSECT and (2) between the total and subtest scores of the TTFC-2. The differences among the total scores of the TTFC-2 in each of the four age groups were also found to be significant.
Discussion & Conclusion
Results from this study suggested that the Korean version of TTFC-2 is a valid and reliable tool for measuring children’s listening comprehension, as well as working / short-term auditory memory skills.
